What Is Vedic Numerology?

Vedic numerology ties the digits in your name and birth date to the Navagraha (nine planets). Any multi-digit number is reduced to a single digit (1-9) by repeatedly summing its digits — someone born on the 27th, for instance, has a Mulank of 2+7=9. Mulank comes from just your day of birth and shows your core personality. Bhagyank comes from your full date of birth and shows your broader destiny. Namank comes from the letters of your full name and shows the impression you make on others.

Is Vedic numerology the same as Western (Pythagorean) numerology?

No — both reduce numbers to a single digit, but Vedic numerology ties each digit to one of the Navagraha (Sun through Ketu) rather than Western planetary/elemental associations, and the two traditions read the resulting number somewhat differently.

Do these calculators need my exact birth time?

No — every tool on this page works from your birth date (and, for Namank, your name) alone. Unlike birth-chart calculators, numerology reduction doesn't depend on birth time or place.

Can two people share the same Mulank or Bhagyank?
