Considered inauspicious for delicate undertakings — "thunderbolt", associated with hardness and abruptness. This page lists every Vajra Yoga in 2026 with its begin and end timings for your location.
Name: the thunderbolt — irresistible force
Vajra takes its name from the thunderbolt — Indra's weapon in the tradition, and a byword for force that nothing withstands. Read into a Yoga, that same hardness becomes a caution: Vajra is counted among the nine inauspicious Yogas, associated with abruptness and an unforgiving quality unsuited to delicate undertakings.
Classical texts describe Vajra as tolerable for work that itself requires hardness or decisiveness — cutting through obstruction, taking firm and final decisions — while advising against anything that depends on gentleness, negotiation or a soft touch.
Its name is the thunderbolt, a byword for irresistible force, and Muhurta texts read that hardness as ill-suited to anything requiring gentleness or negotiation. It is considered more tolerable for work that itself calls for firmness or decisive action.
A Nitya Yoga is one of 27 periods based on the sum (not the difference, as with Tithi) of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, each 13°20' wide. It is distinct from the special Muhurat Yogas also listed under /yogas (like Ravi Yoga or Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga) — those are formed by a combination of Tithi, Nakshatra, and Vaara, whereas a Nitya Yoga is one of the five ever-present core elements of the Panchang.
