Considered inauspicious — associated with danger and difficulty. This page lists every Ganda Yoga in 2026 with its begin and end timings for your location.
Name: a knot or danger
Ganda means a knot or a snag — something that catches and holds rather than letting an undertaking move cleanly forward. It is one of the nine inauspicious Yogas, and its character is read as entangling difficulty rather than the sharper, more violent danger of a Yoga like Shoola or Vyaghata.
Traditional practice treats Ganda as a time when things are prone to become complicated or stuck, and important beginnings — marriage, new ventures, formal ceremonies — are accordingly deferred. It is regarded as passable for routine matters that do not depend on a clean, unobstructed start.
An entangling kind rather than a violent one — its name means a knot or snag, and Muhurta texts describe it as a time when matters are prone to become complicated or stuck, which is why important beginnings are typically deferred past it.
A Nitya Yoga is one of 27 periods based on the sum (not the difference, as with Tithi) of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, each 13°20' wide. It is distinct from the special Muhurat Yogas also listed under /yogas (like Ravi Yoga or Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga) — those are formed by a combination of Tithi, Nakshatra, and Vaara, whereas a Nitya Yoga is one of the five ever-present core elements of the Panchang.
