Name: affection, delight
Preeti takes its name directly from the Sanskrit word for affection, and classical Muhurta reads it as one of the gentler, more sociable Yogas in the cycle. It is associated with warmth between people — the kind of goodwill that makes an occasion pleasant rather than merely correct.
Because of that association, Preeti is traditionally favoured for anything that depends on cultivating a relationship: courtship and marriage-related rites, meeting new people, and acts of friendship or reconciliation. It carries none of the caution attached to the nine inauspicious Yogas.
Anything that depends on goodwill between people — courtship, marriage-related ceremonies, new friendships and reconciliation. Its name means affection, and Muhurta texts treat it as one of the more sociable, warmly disposed Yogas in the cycle.
A Nitya Yoga is one of 27 periods based on the sum (not the difference, as with Tithi) of the Sun's and Moon's longitudes, each 13°20' wide. It is distinct from the special Muhurat Yogas also listed under /yogas (like Ravi Yoga or Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga) — those are formed by a combination of Tithi, Nakshatra, and Vaara, whereas a Nitya Yoga is one of the five ever-present core elements of the Panchang.
